You will need to break off your unique extension and attach it to this unit. The extension (spacer) can be removed easily by placing your old switch in a vise and using a wedge shaped chisel to break the tiny spot welds. When reattaching, most any glue such as Gorilla glue, JB weld or even silicone will work as you are only holding it in place until it is mounted in the dash. Once in the dash the screw-in retainer will keep it in place firmly. Often when you are having dash light problems or if you hear a hissing sound from your dash, this is usually the culprit. Also keep in mind these switches have an internal breaker and if you find your lights turning off unexpectedly and then coming back on you probably need this switch.
